About the Event

The Story of Fire Within

Flamenco is an art form that celebrates the spirit within. It
invites dancers to express themselves with power and
energy, giving opportunities for those not heard to be
seen, celebrated, and given space. Led by Dance Flamenco
DC, Fire Within is working in partnership with My Sister’s
Place, a DC non-profit that shelters, supports, and
empowers survivors of domestic violence. Fire Within will
use the unique movement and spirit of Flamenco to
reduce symptoms of trauma in a safe and supportive
environment. Funds raised will cover travel stipends,
childcare, shoes, and skirts for participants, ensuring that
all women and girls who wish to participate can do so
without barriers.

Fire Within is more than a project—it’s a celebration of art,
culture, community, and empowering the lives of women
