Sanctuary Plus
Sanctuary Plus is MSP’s original 9,000 square-foot emergency housing facility; it features 15 bedrooms, a multi-purpose room, a children’s resource center, a secure playground, and a commercial kitchen with a full-time chef who cooks nutritious meals for residents five days a week. Sanctuary Plus’ dormitory-style design encourages a sense of community and support, reminding residents that they have others to lean on as they navigate the challenges that survivors and their families face when fleeing an abuser. Survivors stay at Sanctuary Plus for an average of 90 days. The facility can house up to 45 people and is almost always at full capacity.

Sanctuary II
Sanctuary II, MSP’s second emergency housing facility, offers six apartment-style units, providing an additional 18-20 survivors/survivor families per year with the safe housing they urgently need. This 3,171 square-foot facility is newly renovated and accessible to good schools, a variety of community resources, and essential social services.

Sanctuary Program
In addition to emergency housing, survivors in the Sanctuary program receive case management, supportive services, and referrals that are trauma-informed and focused on addressing the unique challenges survivors and their families face when fleeing an abuser. Clients are encouraged to engage in self-sufficiency planning, life skills and empowerment coaching, financial literacy training and consultations, employment counseling, and other client-led supportive services. As with many domestic violence programs, children comprise the largest population receiving emergency housing from MSP, therefore, Sanctuary also provides children’s programming to help youth survivors safely express and heal from their trauma.
