My Sister’s Place Welcomes Lisa Winjum as Executive Director

My Sister’s Place is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Winjum as Executive Director, effective March 16, 2026. Lisa joins MSP following a thoughtful and thorough search process led by the Board of Directors and informed by staff feedback, community needs, and the organization’s long-term strategic direction.

Lisa brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience and a deep commitment to mission-driven, survivor-centered work. Throughout the search process, she stood out for her steady and collaborative leadership style, her respect for frontline staff, and her strong alignment with MSP’s core values of dignity, compassion, and partnership. Her experience positions the organization for continued growth and impact in service to survivors of domestic violence in Washington, D.C.

“We are confident in Lisa’s leadership and excited to welcome her to My Sister’s Place,” said Santina Rocca and Shawn Wright, Co-Chairs of the MSP Board of Directors. “She brings the experience, judgment, and values that strongly align with our mission and the needs of the community we serve.”
Lisa shared her enthusiasm about joining the organization and working alongside MSP’s dedicated team:

“I’m honored to join My Sister’s Place and to work with the dedicated, caring team to deepen our impact for survivors. My mission is to guide MSP’s strategic growth, ensuring the organization has the resources and long-term sustainability to support survivors and promote safety, healing, and empowerment.”

The Board expressed appreciation for Krista McDaniel, who provided steady and effective leadership as Interim Executive Director during this transition period. Krista will work closely with Lisa during the leadership transition to ensure continuity for staff, clients, and community partners.

“Krista’s leadership during this transition was critical to sustaining our work and supporting our staff,” Rocca and Wright added. “We are grateful for her continued leadership of our programs and her partnership as we welcome Lisa into this role.

Together, Lisa Winjum and Krista McDaniel will collaborate to advance the mission of My Sister’s Place and continue strengthening the organization’s support for survivors and families across Washington, D.C.
