Above & Beyond at My Sister’s Place: Honoring Amatullah and Saul
At My Sister’s Place, our work is powered by people who show up every day with care, professionalism, and a deep commitment to survivors and their families. This season, we’re proud to recognize two team members who truly go Above & Beyond in their roles: Amatullah and Saul.
Their work reflects the heart of MSP — supporting survivors as they rebuild stability, confidence, and momentum toward their goals.
Meet Amatullah
Amatullah supports survivors through advocacy focused on housing stability, financial empowerment, and workforce development. Her work helps families navigate barriers and regain momentum during incredibly challenging moments.
What inspires you most about working with survivors and families at MSP?“I am inspired by the mission of assisting survivors with services in regaining their momentum through advocacy with housing, financial empowerment, and workforce development.”
For Amatullah, the impact of this work is felt in everyday moments of care and problem-solving.
Can you share a moment this year that reminded you why this work matters?“There have been many moments — from providing advocacy for families who needed extra housing support to providing food assistance for families who were facing barriers to attending the client holiday party we hosted this year.”
Receiving the Above & Beyond Award was especially meaningful because it reflected recognition from her peers.
What does receiving the Above & Beyond Award mean to you personally?“It means that my coworkers see the work, guidance, and support that I provide, and that it’s appreciated.”
Meet Saul
Saul works closely with survivors through financial coaching, helping them build confidence, clarity, and control over their finances — often after money has been tied to stress, trauma, or control.
What inspires you most about working with survivors and families at MSP?“What inspires me most is the resilience I see in survivors and families. Talking about money is not easy, especially when it has been tied to stress, trauma, or control. Yet they show up, engage in the conversation, and begin taking steps toward understanding and managing their finances.”
One of the most powerful parts of Saul’s work is witnessing survivors recognize their own progress.
Can you share a moment this year that reminded you why this work matters?“This year, I’ve been reminded through moments when clients gain clarity and confidence about their financial situations. One client shared that they built healthier financial habits during the holiday season and are now committed to growing their emergency fund and staying out of credit card debt. They’re in the driver’s seat, telling their money what to do.”
For Saul, the award reflects the team’s shared effort.
What does receiving the Above & Beyond Award mean to you personally?“It’s meaningful because it reflects the values that guide our work at MSP. What I do isn’t possible without the support of our advocates and other specialists.”
Celebrating the Team Behind the Work
Amatullah and Saul exemplify what it means to lead with heart, collaboration, and professionalism. Their dedication strengthens not only our programs, but the culture of care that defines My Sister’s Place.
We’re grateful to work alongside them and every team member who supports survivors with compassion and expertise every day.
