Please help support women and children who are victims of domestic violence in their effort to step out of their shattered lives toward self-sufficiency. My Sister’s Place offers a helping hand each step of the way, with personalized safety planning, clinical case management, intensive counseling, and safe harbor with emergency food and shelter, and, for some, transitional housing and links to crucial job and life skills training. The need is increasing during this economic downturn while public funding is decreasing. Domestic violence calls to DC Police jumped 18% recently, but the 2010 DC budget cut funds for the Office of Victim Services, which provides core funding for My Sister’s Place, by 25%.
